Designed for mountain bikers that are new and nervous alike, this introductory group lesson will cover everything you need to feel confident riding on singletrack trails safely.

This isn't your typical intense sports clinic—it’s a welcoming, judgment-free space where no question is too basic and every rider belongs.

When:

Who:
All new or nervous mountain bikers welcomed, ages 18+

What You Will Learn:
🎯 Pre-ride equipment safety check
🎯 Body Positioning for stability & control
🎯 Improved braking control
🎯 Shifting & gear selection
🎯 Terrain awareness & cornering

Covering the foundational skills of body position, using the brakes and gears, navigating the twists and turns of the trail, and the ups and downs of the hills. 

Participants will learn a pre-ride safety check to deepen their understanding of their equipment to boost their safety going forward. Trail and group etiquette will also be covered to further welcome folks into the amazing mountain biking community.

This 2.5 hour group lesson is the perfect introduction to mountain biking!
All genders welcome, ages 18+.

Who is this clinic for?

This clinic is for riders aged 18 and up. We love seeing young riders getting stoked, but this one’s just for the adults.

What kind of bike do I need?

Mountain bikes only for this one. You’ll need a bike with knobby tires and at least a front suspension fork. The skills we teach are specific to mountain biking, so proper mountain bike setup is essential.
🚫 No hybrid, gravel, or department store bikes — for safety reasons, these bikes aren’t permitted.

Do I need previous experience?

You do not need any prior mountain biking or trail riding experience to enjoy this session, however previous experience riding a bicycle is necessary. If you are seeking a learn-to-ride-a-bicycle lesson, please visit our Private Experiences page so we can plan your best learning experience.

What helmet and gear are required?

A cycling-specific helmet (less than 5 years old) is required.

Do I need to pay to enter Christie Lake?

Yes — your StokedMTB registration does not include entry to Christie Lake Conservation Area. All participants are responsible for paying their own admission at the gate.

We ride in the rain! If the weather makes learning conditions unsafe (lightning or torrential downpours), we’ll reach out with rescheduling options. The rain date for this event is Sunday, September 13.

Can I rent a bike or helmet?

StokedMTB does not offer rental. Please ensure your mountain bike and gear are in good working order before you arrive.
